I HAVE A FURRY CAT AT HOME - WILL THE SPHYNX BE COMPATIBLE?

We also have a furry cat and he gets along great with our naked babies. Keep in mind though, that Sphynx require warmer temperatures indoors (at least 72 degrees F) and should never go outdoors for any extended period of time unsupervised.

I AM ALLERGIC TO FURRY CATS, WILL I STILL BE ALLERGIC TO SPHYNX?

More than likely - Yes. Although they do not have the dander of a normal cat, most people are allergic to the saliva of a cat. If you want to check, send us a pillowcase or something you can keep close to you and we can place with the cats and then send back to you!

DO SPHYNX HAVE DIFFERENT DIET NEEDS?

For the most part, No, but they do have a faster metabolism and therefore, eat more and more often. We feed canned wet food and raw (home-made) in the morning and early evening and have dry food out for them all day. We recommend Nulo or Royal Canin for wet and dry. I am more than happy to share my raw recipe as well!

HOW OLD ARE YOUR KITTENS WHEN THEY GO HOME? ?

We raise our kittens until they are 14-16 weeks old, prior to allowing them to go to their new home(s). This allows the needed bonding with their mother and littermates. Plus, this allows time for their first series of shots and to be either spayed or neutered. Kittens are given rabies at 16 weeks, as required by North Carolina law.

DOES SOUTH MEOWTAIN PERFORM THE HCM TESTING ON THEIR KITTENS AND CATS?

We perform annual HCM testing on all breeding cats in our cattery. Kittens need to be at least a year old before HCM testing. HCM test on your kittens parents will be made available to you.

DO YOU SHIP YOUR KITTENS?

We are willing to drive within a 2 hour radius of our home to meet and deliver the kitten. However, we will not ship as we fell this is very stressful and a personal choice we made for our cattery. You can also come and pick your kitten up at the cattery, if you prefer.

DOES ANYTHING COME WITH THE KITTEN AT PICK-UP TIME?

Yes! We are always adding to the Kitty Pack! We provide a blanket that has been used, with their mother and littermates smell(s) on it. This in hopes that it helps them acclimate to their new home, with less stress. We also supply food they are on and litter we use, along with a disposable litter box (for the ride home!).

We also supply their vet records, along with parent's HCM, DNA and Tri-Test and health certificate from our vet.
